Winter is here!

Oh, so much has happened since I posted something. Signe´s disco party was very fun, and it was very hard to drag her home.
Since then, we had a lot of fun with both girls. Lisa walks around now, almost as if she never knew anything else. She talks continuously, saying a lot of interesting things - than no one understands. Even the daycare Heidi told us that her sounds are very... different. We think its because she is exposed to more than one language... so who knows what language she might be speaking when she begins to make sense.
Signe and I walk home together every day, and the last week has been especially fun. Because its been snowing nonstop for more than a week now, and everything is white and beautiful. Its approx minus 10 - minus 5 during the day, and VERY cold during the night.
(Yes Anita, Lisa sleeps indoor these days, when taking a nap ;-) )

Disco!

Here´s Signe on the way to her first disco-party, with her classmates. She was looking very much forward to it, and she was very tired when she came home :-)

The walk

Today, we can proudly say that Lisa is walking !
She has been starting slowly during the last two weeks but today, she really walked around a lot - and loved it! We can tell she is proud of herself.
And today Signe´s second front-tooth fell out, so she sounds abit funny when she talks - and she looks SOOO adorable :-D

Fairie Princess

At the Zoo, Signe got her very first facial paintjob, and she loved it. It is definitely not the last time she will want this. Yesterday, she was a fairie princess, she said :-)

Zoogirls

Today we went to the Zoo, and along came Auntie Lisbeth. We had a great time - more pictures will follow :-)

Peekaboo!

With kittens in the house, you never know when they are going to pop up from a hiding place. A few days ago, Signe and I were packing her bag for school, and got an unexpected surprise - Gaia!
Another very good hiding place is amongst Signe´s teddys, I almost never find them, if they hide there.
Besides the kittens being a handful - no TWO handful´s, everything is fine.
Lisa just got over a very bad cold, which had spread to her ears and gave her an ear infection. We got penicillin and she recovered fast. Signe has been to the ear doctor too and had small drains put into her ears, releasing fluid, that she apparently build up during the last year. That means that she now hears normally, instead of the minus 30% before. It all went fine and she has no problems with it. Signe is also doing fine in school, she reads almost fluid now. She said that she finds mathematics hard, but she´s dong fine. Lisa is almost walking on her own, her banc is getting much better and he tries hard to get around as she pleases. She keeps saying a word, sounding like the danish name "Dorte"... too bad we dont have someone with that name in the family, hehe..

Luna & Gaia

Its funny how Gaia always manages to be on all the pictures I take, and Luna flee´s them. I hardly have any pictures of Luna, and the ones I have are of half a cat, since she´s already moving out of the spotlight...
Luna is a really feminine cat by now. Her eyes are very almond-shaped, her build slender and seriously, she almost has long lashes! She´s a real lady to look at.
Gaia is getting bigger and bigger, and is definitely the biggest of the two (the vet measured 0.5 kilo more on Gaia, than on Luna). Her features are bigger and very alert - very round eyes compared to Luna, longer tail, taller, broader..
We really enjoy them both. We took them out a couple of times, but they both thought it was VERY dangerous, and rushed back in. Luna faster than Gaia, naturally. When Luna was inside she started calling for Gaia, who then followed her sister.
They follow us everywhere, and they are very happy to play and cuddle - we are so lucky to have found these cuties.

Good times...

It seems Lisa is following the footsteps of her older sister, who always loved sitting on Morfars lap, and playing with the computer. I hope you have the patience for both girls, Morfar, cause they are going to demand your attention ;-)

Gaia

What the h.... ?!?!?

All the girls!

Right, so where are we... the eldest first:

Signe is doing really well in school, and she has friends over all the time, not a day went by this week, without visitors in the house. Naturally, Signe has also been proud of the kittens, and wants to show them. Today in school, she brought a picture of Luna and Gaia, which is to be hung on the wall in the classroom - lovely!

Lisa is crawling! She also stands up and walks around everything. As long as she has something to hold on to, she moves around all the time. She really loves being able to DO something. Its like her mind is further than her body - she wants to do a lot, but she cant yet. it can be very frustrating for her. However, she is happy and lovely as always :)

Gaia is really showing us her charming personality. She fears nothing and wants to be in the middle of everything all the time. She is a bit of a rascal, and will try to get it her way, no matter what we try to teach her.

Luna is still more cautious, but not nearly as much as when we first got her. She is SUCH a snuggler, and wants to lie and cuddle all the time. She is very occupied with butterflies flying by the window, and we think she will be a real huntress. She seems a bit more clever than Gaia and gets the idea quickly, when we try and teach her - not to eat the plant, for example.

So... everything is going fine here, we adore all 4 girls :-)

Puzzles

First day with our new family members went fine. Gaia is very brave and curious, she wants to go everywhere and sniff everything. She´s also very playfull!
Luna is more held back, and wants to take it slow. She´s extremely cuddly, and will follow her sister, if she has to - she doesn't want to be alone.
They are both gorgeous!
Yesterday evening, Signe was lying on the floor with a puzzle, and naturally, Gaia was there instantly.

Kittens

We have today decided on two new family members, who will be joining us this weekend :-)
We are not sure what to call them yet - any ideas are welcome! They are sisters and both of the noble race "Maine Coon". We met them today, along with their parents and another sister and brother, and it was an absolute pleasure :-)
Welcome, Ladies!

Daycare

Today is Lisa' s third day in daycare. So far it has been very easy dropping her off, she seems very interested and eager to play with the other girls. The daycare-mom has 4 girls in total, Lisa being the youngest. This week we teach her to get used to the place, and today is her longest day there, so far. She was dropped off at 9 and will be picked up after her nap, around 13-14:00.
When I dropped her off this morning, she was smiling and dancing a bit, when I left. I don't think she really understood that I was about to leave, she was too busy to wave at me.
We expect her to maybe get a bit upset in a few days, when she realizes that this is something we do everyday, and that we will leave her there. But we'll see, so far, there are no troubles what so ever. Well done, Lisa!

Picture: Heidi, the daycare-mom, Fiona & Nikoline - and of course Lisa.

Goodbye Felix

And so came the last day with Felix. The doctor found cancer in him, so we made the tough decision of letting him sleep.
Safe journey, Felix.
We love you and miss you.

Lisa' s room

When we made up Signe' s room, we moved Lisa back into our bedroom, but that wasn't such a success. So the last few days, we have been moving our bedroom downstairs, and Lisa now has her own room beside Signe' s room. It all turned out very nicely, we think...

Summertime

We are truly enjoying the garden at the moment, Felix too as you can see.
The weather is really nice and we are outside almost all the time :-)

Signe´s bithday party

Yesterday we had family and friends over for Signe´s birthday, and it was a real pleasure.
Signe got a lot of fancy gifts and the the day was nice and relaxed.
Thanks to everyone who attended :-)

Cirkus Summarum

Yesterday Signe, Odin and i went to the Circus, and not just any circus: www.cirkussummarum.dk
- It was a surprize for Signe, who was very thrilled about it, when she found out where we were going. Mormor came by to babysit Lisa, and off we went.
The whole thing was very, very amusing and very, very good. We all had a blast!
After the show we went to dinner and then home. When we came home, Lisa was asleep. She and Mormor had a nice afternoon/evening and there had been no crying or being unhappy - great!

(Cirkus Summarum is a performance made by Danish TV and Radio, and all the cirkus stars were people from TV for kids)

Lovely day!

Little Miss Messy...

Lisa wants to do EVERYTHING herself these days, including eating. So we finally gave in and let her sit with her "havregrød" herself - Oh boy, what a mess!!

Sunday 11 July 2010

Happy Birthday Signe!

So the day finally arrived, Signe' s 7th birthday. She has been waiting for it for a long time now, and she spent the day at her Dad's. It was a great day, she tells us. On saturday, 6 days from now, we will have her birthday in the garden.
Odin and I worked on Signe's surprize for this afternoon, when she gets home. Mormor & Morfar bought her a new bed - and things!
We are certain she will love it and we cant wait to show her later today...
Happy birthday, Signe!

Sisters

What is better than relaxing in the shade, with the best sister in the world...

Stroller

And many thanks for the stroller, its a really nice one :)
Odin and I have been going through the market for some time, deciding which stroller would be the best for Lisa, and we quickly found this one. Then, we had to decide on color...
There was no way I could convince Odin to pick the all raspberry-pink one, so the choice came down to the dark "bordeaux", which actually looks more dark purple, or the black with light pink patterns in various places. Turns out, we both liked the "plum-purple-bordeaux" best, so there we are.
It has nice features like; you can turn the seat around, so she can face things ahead, the wheels are very good, you don't have to push or lift the stroller to turn, she can lie down completely in it, it came with mosquito net and rain cover, its solid and safe. You can read more, if interested on www.emmaljunga.se (Swedish product)
We had it for the first test-run yesterday, when we took Lisa out to shop for grosseries. She seemed to be quite satisfied with her new wheels.
We all love it!

Summerdays

It seems the nice weather continues for a while in DK, so the girls are outside playing every day.
Signe had an early birthdaygift from my friend Heidi and Henrik, her boyfriend - an outside water-slide-lane... Massive fun!
Lisa is mostly playing in her sandbox and her swing, and her baby-pool :)
- And mom is playing with her flowers :-D
(Papa´s working..)

Heatwave in Holland

Thanks for a lovely visit, Oma & Opa.
We came home to a garden full of blooming roses, which was sooooo nice!
The heatwave you have in Holland continued in Denmark, so we have been in the garden all day, bathing in the small pools - Lisa is using Signe´s old one, which is very nice. Signe had a friend over today, and they both ran around in bathing clothes all day. Lovely!
I planted the "Kaprifolie", so cross your fingers!
(yes, the pictures are messed up, the top one is the roses in our garden - some of them. The next is the Kaprifolie we stole in Oma´s garden and planted at home, the third is Lisa´s pool in the garden, and the bottom is Oma and Lisa)
